Meet the stars of the Rhinos Wheelchair team at Saturdays Game

The Leeds Rhinos Wheelchair Rugby League team will be showcasing their rapidly expanding sport at the Rhinos’ next home game against Catalans Dragons on Saturday 25th March.

Fans will be able to meet stars of the team plus, the Wheelchair Rugby League World Cup will be on display for photo opportunities!

The Rhinos are one of the strongest Wheelchair Rugby League teams in the country, with several of its players playing internationally including England Wheelchair Captain Tom Halliwell, England goal kicker Nathan Collins and Rhinos captain and Welsh international Jodie Boyd-Ward.

Fans attending the Catalans game can head to the Café Bar to have their photo taken with the Wheelchair RL World Cup and some of the Rhinos players. There will be opportunities to give Wheelchair Rugby League a go with staff from Leeds Rhinos Foundation on hand to lead try out sessions.

Commenting on the showcase, Leeds Rhinos Foundation Disability Officer Ed Bates said: “We are looking forward to giving Rhinos fans a taste of the growing sport. Since the success of the RLWC, our participation numbers have increased rapidly. Players have joined us from a variety of different backgrounds, highlighting the inclusive nature of Wheelchair Rugby League. Since the turn of the year our development players have gone from strength to strength, with players participating in the Wheelchair 4s festival earlier this month. We would like to encourage every Rhinos fan to come and have a go when at the stadium on Saturday!

“We are also delighted to be celebrating the achievements of James, Nathan, and Tom this weekend. Which will be made even more special by the presence of the RLWC Wheelchair trophy. Their commitment on and off the field to Wheelchair Rugby League has inspired many others to take up playing the sport. Hopefully, even more Rhinos fans will want to come down and play after having a go in one of our chairs!”

The Wheelchair Rugby League showcase will be situated in the Café Bar. Gates will open at 10am and tickets for the game are still available with prices starting from £12 for juniors (under 16), £16 for concessions* and £24 for adults.
