Leeds Rhinos Netball programmes get underway

The Leeds Rhinos Netball programme has got underway with trials for the Under-13, Under-15 and Under-17 Academy.

170 girls trialed for 70 places from across Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, the North West and North East.

The quality of those trialling was excellent – current National Academy athletes, players who took part in the 2017 National Academy screening, members of the NPL winning Loughborough Lightning Under-21 squad, plus players from national winning age group teams Tameside and Oldham.

The Training Hubs, which were run across four locations have also started positively with numbers being driven by the top down maintaining high standards.

The first Academy sessions on Monday took place with Gerry Plant, assistant coach to the Academy Under-13s and Under-15s; Jan Hemsley, Under-17s Leeds Rhinos Academy assistant coach, and Beccy Lewis as guest coach from Surrey Storm.
