Leeds Rhinos Foundation welcome new Rugby League Development Officers

Here at the Foundation, we are delighted to announce the appointment of Josh Jordan-Roberts and Tom Schofield to the Rugby League Development team.

The pair join the Foundation with a wealth of Rugby League experience, both with prior connections to the Leeds Rhinos.

Josh started his journey at the club as a scholarship player when he was just 14 and went through the entire player pathway. From starting out in the Academy, he progressed to the first team, playing 2 first grade games before leaving for York Knights in 2018.

Commenting on this new opportunity, he said: “I’m excited by this challenge as it allows me to showcase our great sport in lots of different areas in Leeds.”

“It also gives me the opportunity to positively impact lots of young people in the city, and being a local lad, that is something I really am passionate about.”

At the age of 17, Tom joined the Rhinos as a player for the club’s Academy team. After a couple of years, he left to pursue different opportunities, but just 9 months ago, he rejoined the Rhinos path, taking on the role of Assistant Coach for the current Academy and Reserves team.

He commented on his new role: “I’m really looking forward to having the opportunity to work with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, with the goal of growing Rugby League and it’s pathways within the local and wider community.”

Speaking about our two new recruits, Rugby League Development Manager, Darren Higgins, said: “It’s great to welcome both Josh and Tom to the Rugby League Development team, both lads have strong background in the game having progressed from the local community club scene and represented the Rhinos at academy level.”

“Not only do they have a strong connection to Rhinos, but both have significant ambition and expertise that will add value to our Rugby League Development offer and the growth of the game in the city. In Josh’s case, and his playing commitments with Hunslet RL, this mirrors a great working relationship with our local partners at grassroots level.”

We are looking forward to welcoming Josh and Tom to the Foundation with open arms and we look forward to furthering the growth of the game in our community together!
