Leeds Rhinos Foundation will be providing pupils from secondary schools in Leeds looking towards a career in coaching and Rugby League administration with a new opportunity to gain the Rugby League Leaders Award in 2017.

Russell Parker from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, who will be coordinating the course delivery commented on the appeal of the award:

"The Rugby League Leaders award is an ideal introduction to coaching and administration for young people looking towards a career in sport. Through our funding we are delighted to be able to offer the award to schools for free and through our competitions and organised events we hope to provide a number of students with the opportunity to gain volunteering experience as part of the award.

"We can accommodate up to 15 pupils per course and will be able to run the course through to March, so hopefully we will see a good level of interest from schools this year which will provide some valuable experience for the next generation of sports leaders and coaches."

The leaders award will equip the attendee's to improve and understand:

– Confidence to deliver to a group
