The Leeds Rhinos Foundation is seeking new trustees to help achieve our next set of ambitions, including someone with an ambition to be a future chair.
Are you passionate and energetic about changing lives through the power of sport and making a difference? Do you have leadership experience and leadership potential? We’re looking for new trustees to continue our journey to be an increasingly diverse board, and ideally who have skills or experience in one of the following areas: data or digital developments, financial acumen, or an entrepreneurial mindset.
We’ve seen exciting growth in both breadth and depth of what we do to change lives through the power of sport, providing a wide range of activities for the very young to those much older. We take pride from being an inclusive organisation at the forefront of challenging boundaries, for example delivering sport development for all abilities across all areas of the city and beyond, extensive work in schools, providing alternative curriculum opportunities, cancer rehabilitation, obesity programmes and working with offenders in prisons – to name a few things.
Our website here provides more information, with a short video here that describes us, and you can view our latest Ambition document here for further details.
We are ambitious to grow further and do even more to change lives through the power of sport to impact on the lives of more people, particularly across areas such as health and wellbeing, education and employment, and other social challenges, not least for those who face the most challenges. We want to do this through the broadest interpretation of sport, and crucially continue delivery in line with our values: trust, enjoyment, progressive and inclusive.
In recent years, we have refreshed our governance arrangements, in line with best practice in the Charity Commission Code, including a focus on having a diverse board with the right skills and experience and reflecting the communities we serve. We’re in a strong position, with some excellent trustees. Our tenure policy means that we need to replace experienced trustees and will be periodically refreshing our board.
We are likely to recruit three new trustees who can bring energy, enthusiasm and experience to work with the staff team and partners to help achieve our ambitions. We want people who are passionate about making a difference, with some leadership skills and governance experience that the Foundation could benefit from. Across these recruits, we’re looking for people who can
- add value to developments around the best use of data and digital opportunities,
- bring extensive financial experience,
- demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and evidence of delivery in the social value area, and
- we are keen to recruit trustees who aspire to be a future chair.
As a trustee of the Foundation, you can expect:
- a warm TeamLeeds welcome,
- work with a great team of trustees, senior leadership team, super staff and awesome volunteers,
- engage with partners and bring new partners on board,
- play a value adding role getting involved in existing and new developments,
- support your personal growth journey,
- bring your networks and expertise to have a positive impact.
In return, we expect:
- reasonable attendance and contribution at meetings (6 per year),
- engagement at some events,
- participation in projects where you can add value, and
- be part of the broader Rhinos family given the inextricable links between the Club and the Foundation.
The deadline for applicants is 11 October. If you are keen to apply, please email your CV and a short covering letter setting out why you’re interested and what you can offer the Foundation as a trustee, to info@leedsrhinosfoundation.org .
We will be undertaking a formal selection process with the aim of getting appointees in place by the end of the year.
