Leeds Rhinos Foundation key partner Mears are getting behind the NHS Leeds North CCG ‘Stay Well this Winter’ campaign by pledging to provide their most vulnerable customers across the city with specially made ‘Winter Warmth Packs’ to help them stay warm this winter.
With the winter period affecting many thousands of vulnerable people in the city Mears, the leading social housing repairs and maintenance provider in the UK, is teaming up with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation to support the NHS ‘Stay Well this Winter’ campaign by pledging to provide specially made Winter Warmth Packs, which will be delivered directly to customers homes by Mears employees.
The NHS 'Stay Well this Winter Campaign', which is aimed at people aged 65 or over, those with long-term health conditions, pregnant women and parents of children aged two, three and four and in school years 1 and 2, has been created to help provide them with valuable information on how they can maintain their health over the winter months.
Mears Group PLC has been long term partners with Leeds Rhinos Foundation since 2013 when the company became principal sponsors of the charity's Rugby League Development Plan for Leeds, which aims to improve all areas of grassroots Rugby League in Leeds and the wider region.
Mears Home and Care services also provide flexible care to over 20,000 older and disabled people and help support them to continue living in their own homes. As part of Mears' commitment to the local communities they work in, Mears staff have volunteered in excess of 22,000 hours to 648 projects nationwide in the past 12 months.
The Stay Well this Winter campaign is also being supported by another of Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s key partners, Asda, who are distributing the information leaflets in their store in Morley. If you are visiting the store keep an eye out for a specially designed life size cut out of Rhinos star Ryan Hall and pick up one of the leaflets, which has all the necessary information on how you can help someone stay well over the winter months.
Supporters of the Rhinos have also been asked to share their pledge on social media using #StayWellThisWinter and tagging in the twitter handle of Leeds Rhinos Foundation @rugbyleeds to say how they will be supporting someone to stay well. All those who upload their pledge will be entered into a draw to win tickets for the World Club Challenge game between Leeds Rhinos and North Queensland Cowboys on 21st February 2016.
