Leeds Rhinos Foundation (LRF) aims to promote and develop through collaboration and partnership, a sustainable system for Health and Well Being, Physical Activity, PE and Sport that enriches the lives of all children and young people and families

The collaboration made up of numerous partners aims to deliver a range of outcomes under four principles of Sport/ Physical Activity, Health and Education. Sport and Physical Activity will be used to deliver important lifestyle messages to inspire others to make positive changes to their own lives. Health and Education will impact on children’s attainment, emotional, social skills along with their ability to understand sustainability and environment.

Purpose of the role The role will deliver engaging and inclusive education and physical activity sessions in 28 schools using Rugby League as a vehicle to inspire climate action as part of an innovative new climate action project, in collaboration with the Rugby League Community Trust.

Working closely with key stakeholders, the successful candidate will create safe and enjoyable learning experiences that encourage young people to become climate action champions.

Alongside leading the delivery of the project, the successful candidate will contribute to the wider work of the Foundation, supporting and guiding local schools across a several areas including but not exclusively, PE, enrichment, mentoring and events/ festivals.

The role will report to LRF Head of Community and Engagement whilst building and maintaining a strong working relationship with key personnel within their schools and community clubs as their one point of contact.

 

 

Key Responsibilities Co-ordinate and administer the agreed local programmes.

·       Rugby League Community Trust – Try For Tomorrow

·       Recruiting schools, young people, and community clubs

·       Managing equipment, travel and delivery logistics

·       Delivery of the Educating Our Communities (Game of 2 Halves) to school groups

·       Supporting Utility Bench development in 10 community clubs

·       Sharing participant experiences and supporting evaluation and communication

·       Implement and deliver a calendar of support and events with all primary schools.

·       Liaise with high school PE departments for accessing facilities and young leaders to support events.

·       Work with key partners to build and maintain strong relationships

·       Promote high quality provision

·       Commitment to CPD/ Good Practice

·       Club/ Community links and Pathways

·       Co-ordinate links to Leeds Rhinos Foundation resources and opportunities

The staff member will monitor and evaluate the impact of their work, always manage their workload effectively and ensure safeguarding through adhering to individual school/ partner policies.

Additional Responsibilities

 

·       Attend relevant meetings

·       Attend relevant CPD, including carbon literacy training

·       Attend school/ LRF events as and when necessary

·       Update Outlook calendar on a weekly basis

·       Update UPSHOT and other relevant data collection tools

Qualifications/ Experience Required ·       An appropriate degree is preferred. Teaching qualification is desirable.

·       Recognised National Governing Body Level 2 coaching qualification or Multi Skills Level 2

·       Safeguarding and First Aid qualification.

·       A driving licence and access to a vehicle.

•         Hold current Enhanced DBS Certificate.

•         Has had outstanding attendance over the last two years whilst in the workplace.

•         Knowledge of relevant policies & procedures

•         Being aware of and working with the school with regards relevant policies in relation to Safeguarding and Child Protection

•         NVQ level 3 in English or equivalent

•         NVQ level 3 in Maths or equivalent.

 

·       Communication – written/verbal.

•         . Strong written communication skills, with the ability to prepare reports, letters and other documents.

•         Ability to use clear language to communicate information unambiguously

•         Ability to listen effectively

•         Ability to negotiate effectively with adults and children.

•         Good working knowledge of ICT to support learning and performance of own role.

 

·       Desirable

·       HLTA/ Teaching qualification

·       Completion of an induction programme

·       Good working knowledge of specialist curriculum area(s) if appropriate.
