Teachers, volunteers and pupils who have worked with Leeds Rhinos Foundation in 2016/2017 were recognised for their hard work and achievements on Friday night at the Leeds Rhinos vs Salford Red Devils Super League fixture with awards presented by Leeds Rhinos star Keith Galloway.
Awards including Volunteer of the Year, Girls and Boys Rugby League Teacher of the year were awarded during the half time interval in front of a packed Headingley Carnegie Stadium along with participation and performance Awards for schools who had made major strides in their performance during the year and been successful in competitions organised by Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation recognised the following winners on the night:
Volunteer of the Year – Molly Hutchinson (Molly who plays with Oulton Raidettes is also a qualified referee and has volunteered on a number of high school competitions including Sky Try 9s, Champion Schools and Leeds and Hunslet Schools competitions during the year)
Girls Rugby League Teacher of the Year – Dani Richardson of Temple Moor
Girls Rugby League Teacher of the Year – James Richardson of Temple Moor
Boys Rugby League Teacher of the Year – James Endersby of Corpus Christi
Boys Rugby League Teacher of the Year – Tom Wandless of Corpus Christi
Boys Rugby League Participation Award – Woodkirk Academy
Girls Rugby League Participation Award – Bishop Young Academy
Girls Rugby League Performance of the Year – Temple Moor (Temple Moor girls won the Year 7+8 and Year 9+10 League Finals at Weetwood in the Summer completing the double)
Boys Rugby League Performance of the Year – Corpus Christi Catholic College (As well as success across the board in local competition, Corpus Year 7 team reached the Champion Schools National Semi-Finals this year)
