As part of our #HealthyRhinos week the Leeds Rhinos Foundation are providing Healthy Lifestyles assemblies in schools across Leeds offering primary school children advice on the importance of healthy living.

The assemblies as part of the Day to Remember service provided by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation that takes schools from a morning assembly through a series of coaching sessions at the school, before offering the chance for the children and their parents a chance to attend a Leeds Rhinos Matchday at a discounted price.

Primary School Development Officer Matthew Nicholson provided two assemblies on Monday to start the week off at Oulton Primary School and on the same day at Westfield Infants for over 400 children at the two schools.

The assemblies cover topics such as NHS endorsed ‘Eat Well’ plate that highlights the different types of food that make up our diet, and shows the proportions we should eat them in to have a well-balanced and healthy diet as well as, the importance of breakfast to staying healthy and staying hydrated throughout the day by drinking enough water.

As part of the key message in the assemblies, which use the example of the Leeds Rhinos payers as role models, a series of key messages are emphasized: such as, getting enough sleep, exercising, being hygienic and eating three balanced meals a day.

Partner Schools officers Tony Aubrey and Emma Davis will continue the healthy lifestyles week into Friday’s game with Assemblies at Middleton Primary School on Thursday and Seacroft Grange on Friday morning.
Tony Aubrey commented:

“These healthy lifestyle assemblies have been running all year round and give the children valuable advice on the importance of nutrition and exercise as part of their daily routine. We use the message of ‘eat healthy and become a champion’ to apply the information to the Leeds Rhinos team and players to give it some added impact.

“This week in particular these assemblies have had extra importance in the build-up to the game on Friday as the key message here is to promote healthy families from children to adults and hopefully this week will get some key advice and information out there.”

As part of the #HealthyRhinos week we are working with Leeds Public Health to offer our fans advice on healthy lifestyles, culminating with fans getting the opportunity to have a health check at the Rhinos' game against Hull KR this Friday 22nd May.
