The Leeds Rhinos Foundation offered the first day to remember of the season sponsored by Caddick Construction, to kick off the 2015 Super League home schedule for the Leeds Rhinos

Grange Farm, who are one of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation partner schools, took part in the first edition of the fully revamped programme that now consists of an all singing all dancing assembly, delivery of multi-skills and tag rugby and appearances from Ronnie the Rhino and the Challenge Cup.

The day ran by Partner Schools Officer for the Seacroft Cluster and assisted by Development Officer Matthew Nicholson provided the memorable day for 330 children between the ages of 4 to 11, which culminated in a match day experience for the children who bought concessionary tickets to attend the Leeds Rhinos match against Widnes Vikings.

All children involved in the day received some form of delivery either from Emma or Matthew and got the chance to see Ronnie the Rhino perform in their assembly and the chance to see the Challenge Cup first hand, which supported the key message of the assembly in ‘Creating a Winning Team.’

Both staff and children had a fantastic day which was reinforced by comments from Head Teacher at Grange Farm Jo Geary:

“I am so impressed with how engaged Emma and Matthew kept the children throughout the day, whilst passing on key messages and teaching new skills to all of our children. They all had a great day and many are looking forward to the match on Friday night”.

The children had the chance to perform in the half time pitch parade during the Rhinos Fixture, representing their school and carrying round a banner that their school officers have helped them to make.

As part of the Day to Remember programme, each child and their parents are given the opportunity to purchase tickets for the match for just £5 each, all supported by sponsors Caddick Construction, seeing 143 tickets bought from Grange Farm for the game alone.

Emma Davis who provided everything from the morning Assembly to supporting the school on the match day said:

“I was really pleased with how the day ran, it is my time running a Day to Remember and I felt that each child was really benefiting from the delivery they received from either myself of Matthew. It really was the definition of ‘Changing Lives through Sport.’

Thursday’s home fixture will see local schools Manston St James and Park Spring Primary School joining the match day experience as the programme continues throughout the season.
