Although Leeds Rhinos Foundation may most commonly be associated with rugby league, the charity actually offers a variety of sports coaching, including netball.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation, with the support of Yorkshire Sport, now run a satellite Netball Club, coached by ex Superleague Netball player Kate Lightfoot, every Monday night 5-6pm at Garforth Academy.
Lightfoot, who is the Partnership and Business Development Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, has played netball at national standard for several years, representing both Yorkshire Jets at Superleague and Leeds Athletic national premier one.
The club is open to all levels, and focusses on developing basic skills and game understanding. The first two sessions are free of charge, and will be chargeable at £3 thereafter to ensure the club is sustainable. For more information about getting involved email kate.lightfoot@leedsrhinosfoundation.org
Lightfoot also has links to a local junior team that competes in the West Yorkshire netball league, so there are player pathways for the girls should they want to join a competitive club set up following the Satellite Club involvement.
In April Leeds Rhinos Foundation will also be running a Leeds Business Netball Competition alongside Team Activ. This is an opportunity for workmates to come together for a fun packed evening full of games, entertainment and healthy competition. The event will take place at Leeds Beckett University on Tuesday 11th April. Registration opens at 6pm and games start at 6.30pm until 8.30pm.
