Leeds Rhinos Foundation is delighted to announce new dates for its men’s weight programme TryClub, with the launch of a second weekly course in Armley.
TryClub is a free 12-week men’s weight management service funded through Leeds City Council. The courses, running throughout the summer, are open to all males across the city over the age of 18.
The aim of TryClub is to offer honest and achievable guidance from our team of nutritionists and physical activity specialists. Groups will take part in a 45-minute nutrition workshop each week, followed by a 45-minute physical activity session, catered to all ages and abilities.
As well as taking place on Wednesday evenings from 6-7:30pm at Emerald Headingley Stadium, Leeds Rhinos Foundation have teamed up with Active Leeds- with funding provided by Inner West Housing Advisory Panel and Community Committee- to offer a second TryClub course, with sessions running on Fridays at Armley Leisure Centre from 1-2:30pm.
179 men attended TryClub last year, with 91% reducing their weight by over 3%. Many former TryClub participants have spoken about the positive impact it has had on their lifestyles, with more than 20 currently attending the TryClub maintenance sessions, which offer graduates the opportunity to engage in a range of weekly activities following completion of the 12-week course.
Laura Buckle, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Health Improvement Officer, said: “We are very excited to be launching another TryClub course this summer and extending our work into more areas of Leeds. The programmes are so popular and make such a difference to those involved; the success stories, weight loss achieved, fitness goals managed and friendships formed through the sessions are fantastic to see!
“We are here to support, guide and advise people through the programme. I would urge any male who wants to get fitter or healthier to come along to TryClub and achieve weight loss in a friendly, social environment alongside like-minded blokes. You won’t regret it!”
