The Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s programme of Christmas events got under way on 2nd December with local schools and organisations dressing Christmas Trees in the Carnegie Cafe as part of the annual Christmas Tree Festival with more events on offer over the festive period.
Organisations and local schools who signed up to dress a tree, which will be on show in the Carnegie Cafe at Headingley Carnegie Stadium until the 17th December, turned out in their numbers to put their personal decorations on one of 13 Christmas Trees for the festival.
Groups ranging from the 10th Leeds Rainbows and Brownies, Roundhay Ambassadors, Child Friendly Leeds, Wheatfields Hospice, Yorkshire Jets, the Roundhay After School and Arts clubs along with Rosebank Primary School, Roundhay Inclusion and The Kaiper-Holmes Family all turned up to join in the festive occasion and decorate a tree while making a donation to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation will be showcasing the organisations who came to decorate a tree over the next 10 days in the build up to Christmas on our @RugbyLeeds Twitter account and would like to thank everybody for their donations to the charity.
The next event in the Christmas Calendar for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation is the Sue Ryder Wheatfields Light of Honour event on the 10th December at Headingley Carnegie Stadium offering people the opportunity to come together to remember and make a special dedication to a person who has touched or inspired their life.
The event involving the lighting of a ceremonial Christmas Tree along with some festive Carols and readings from some familiar faces including Leeds Rhinos players Mitch Achurch and Jordan Baldwinson and some past players and members of the Hospice.
By registering for the event, attendees can submit the names of loved ones they want to honour this Christmas and dedications will be shown on the big screen at the Wetherby Whaler Boxing Day Festive Challenge match Between Leeds Rhinos and Wakefield Wildcats.
