Follow the #LeedsFoodDetective as he searches for clues on how to be food smart!

The Leeds Food Detective found the letter U first in his search for clues!

In support of Change 4 Life’s Be Food Smart campaign the Leeds Food Detective will be travelling across Leeds encouraging families to explore the amount of salt, fat and sugar that is hidden in their favourite foods.

Children in England are eating nearly three times the recommended amount of sugar and too much sugar is bad for their health. Surprisingly, half the sugar they consume comes from snacks and sugary drinks. To help educate parents and children about sugar intake, Change4Life has launched a new campaign in to inform families about choosing healthier snacks. The campaign encourages parents to take action by introducing a new simple tip – ‘Look for 100 calorie snacks, two a day max’.

This year, the Leeds Food Detective will also be providing clues during the campaign, travelling around Leeds where at certain places the Detective will be pictured with a letter of the alphabet. First up, the Leeds Food Detective visited the Public Health Resource Centre, where the letter U was discovered, and over the course of the campaign he will occasionally be pictured with different letters, which will need to be collected and then unscrambled to spell a word.

Follow the campaign on Twitter by searching #LeedsFoodDetective and over the weeks you will see different letters which will make up the mystery word.  Once you have worked out the word send your entry to sarahslater@leeds.gov.uk by 31st March 2018 to be entered into the prize draw and the winning person will be drawn out for the £20 voucher prize.

Don’t worry if you missed any of the Leeds Food Detective letter clues, previous letter clues can be found at PHRC website, Technorth reception display board, this newsletter and through twitter.
