FEATURE COMMUNITY CLUB OF THE WEEK: Whinmoor Warriors ARLFC

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation are this year featuring a Community Club of the week following the weekend home fixtures and this week’s club in the spotlight is one of our community clubs Whinmoor Warriors ARLFC

Established in 1996 as the Pendas Panthers, Whinmoor Warriors have been providing the children in LS14, LS15 and surrounding areas with a place to play rugby league for nearly 20 years, with an aim of promoting enjoyment and an active & healthy lifestyle.

The club have a number of success stories with several players going on to play professional rugby league, such as former Leeds first team players Danny Williams and Jordan Tansey along with current academy players Thomas Minns and James Duckworth.

The Warriors are a Leeds Rhinos Foundation ambassador club member, enjoying some of the benefits for the young players at the club, such as playing as a half time team and enjoying pitch parades at Rhinos Home fixtures and playing in Winter touch tournaments with other clubs in the West Yorkshire region.

The Warriors joined the Foundation for the Wakefield Trinity Wildcats Easter Monday fixture, playing as a half time team along with seven other community clubs on the day and will be attending the Rhinos Challenge Festival coming up in the summer months.

The club's strong relationship with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation has seen the charity assist the club in running two open nights with the local schools over the last 12 months and as a direct result, the club have started a new under 7s team and bolstered the numbers in the under 12s age group.

The club plays at the Fieldhead Carr Community centre in Whinmoor and are operating this season with teams at under 7s, 9s, 12s, 14s, 15s and open age.

The club welcome all new players and train on Tuesday & Thursdays from 6-7pm,
