The countdown continues….With just 5 days to go, Leeds City Council have backed Keith Senior and the team’s Quest14 challenge which kicks off on Sunday.
The team will set off on their epic challenge this coming Sunday 22nd June from Perpignan, in the South of France, the home of the Catalan Dragons, to Gaillac, covering 136 miles.
They will then cycle through Perigueux, Poitiers, Le Mans and Caen. The team arrive in the UK on the 27th June and will cycle the Leeds – Harrogate route of the Tour De France on the final day of the challenge, covering 134 miles and finishing at the world famous Headingley Carnegie Stadium in time to deliver the match ball prior to Leeds Rhinos vs Catalan Dragons Super League Encounter on Sunday 29th June (meaning a 4am departure!).
The challenge will take in over 1000 miles and 8 days. Leeds City Council’s Executive Member for Culture and Leeds Rugby Foundation Trustee Lucinda Yeadon commented:
“I have immense admiration for Keith and his team who are kicking off their Quest 14 challenge this weekend. Last year’s challenge was a huge success and they really are kicking thing up a notch this time around. In the summer of the Tour de France in Leeds, the team’s own ambitious cycle route will I’m sure seem pretty gruelling at times but they’re doing it for some fantastic causes and I would urge everyone to donate whatever you can afford.”
A percentage of the raised funds from this unique event will be donated to three other life changing charities; Sue Ryder – Wheatfields, The Laura Crane Youth Cancer Trust and Joining Jack.
As well as giving something back to other charities, Leeds Rugby Foundation will benefit greatly from these funds as they continue to 'Change lives through Sport'.
