Leader of Leeds City Council Cllr Judith Blake delivered a message of support for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Director of Operations Bob Bowman this week as he nears the start of his 15 in 15 marathon challenge on Friday
The Labour councillor for the Middleton Park ward has seen first-hand the impact that Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s community projects have had on the city and joined schools, clubs and the Rhinos playing staff this week in pledging her support for his distance running and fundraising campaign.
Speaking on behalf of Leeds City Council Councillor Judith Blake, said:
“On behalf of Leeds City Council, I would like to wish Bob the very best of luck as he sets out on his journey to run an incredible 15 marathons in 15 days on behalf of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
“While there will undoubtedly be a lot of testing moments for Bob as he takes on such a big challenge, we have no doubt that he has both the determination and spirit that the Leeds Rhinos are famous for to complete it.”
Leeds Rhinos Foundation won the Best Overall Contribution Award in 2015 at the Child Friendly Leeds award for their community work in many of the Leeds primary and secondary schools across the city, which Cllr Blake sees as an important reason for people to make a donation to the campaign:
“The job that the Leeds Rhinos Foundation does in our communities and especially with young people all year round is absolutely tremendous. Anyone who does sponsor Bob is therefore guaranteed that their donation will be supporting a fantastic and worthy initiative,” added Blake.
The council also reached out to support Bob on social media this week under their Child Friendly Leeds account, asking the public to support Bob’s campaign.
