Corpus Christi Catholic College added to their Leeds and Hunslet Schools trophy collection last week securing a treble for 2016 with more wins in the year 7 and year 11 competitions with Abbey Grange also securing the year 9 title
A week on from the year 8 and 10 finals at John Charles Centre for Sport, which saw Crawshaw Academy and Corpus Christi take home the first school competition silverware of the year, Corpus Christi were looking to add a further three trophies to their haul to cap off 2016 in style.
The youngest age group competition with the year 7s final kicked off the evening with the Gilston Cup on the line and Corpus Christi Catholic College taking on their East Leeds counterparts Brigshaw High School.

Corpus came out sharply gradually building a lead of 22 points to 4, with tries from Lucas Green. Despite a comeback from Brigshaw who brought the game to a close finish with two tries from Alfie Dean it was Corpus Christi who held on for a narrow 22-20 victory to win the first final of the night.
Both sides were presented their medals by Leeds Rhinos star Brett Ferres.

Once again Corpus looked in confident mood with Kian O’Carroll getting the scoring under way for his side grabbing himself two tries before coming off due to a dislocated finger. Joe Gibbons also got on the score board for Corpus Christi in the first half, to give them a 14-0 at half time.
Abbey Grange came out after the half time break and made amends straight away with James Leetham scoring Abbey Grange’s first try of the night and adding the conversion. Louis Dervish then brought the score even closer scoring a second for Abbey Grange to bringing the scores to 14-10 and setting up an exciting finale.
Then to complete the comeback in the final minutes of the game, Abbey Grange managed to gain good field possession and took full advantage with James Leetham scoring and converting the winning try to steal victory away from Corpus.
Players were once again rewarded for their efforts in another fantastic final with a guest appearance from Ash Handley, who handed out medals and trophies to the teams.

The finals event then ended with the oldest age group competing for the Hector Crowther trophy what would be the most one-sided game across the two finals events between Corpus Christi and Brigshaw High School.
For the third game in a row, Corpus Christi wasted no time in taking hold of the game and stormed to a 16-0 half time lead.

Despite two magnificent come backs in the two previous finals, Corpus Christi this time proved too much for Brigshaw to handle and ran out 44-0 winners in the end with Ebenezer Nkrumah, David Gibbons, Owen Hughes, Kian Linley and Nathan Carter all getting on the score sheet for their school and completing a treble of trophies for Corpus this year.
