Community Club players get ready to explore on Adventure residential

Score to Explore sponsored by Geoff and Jill Caplan

Over 30 teens from seven community Rugby League clubs from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Club Ambassador Scheme in Leeds will join staff from the charity and Herd Farm for a two residential this half term as part of the Score to Explore Adventure programme.

Supported by Geoff and Gill Caplan, the Score to Explore initiative is sending one junior rugby league player to the two-day residential for every Leeds Rhinos try scored at Headingley Carnegie Stadium this season.

Located at Herd Farm Activity Centre on the 26th and 27th October, clubs including, East Leeds ARLFC, Batley Boys, North Leeds Leopards, Whinmoor Warriors, Garforth Tigers, Chapeltown Cougars and Shawcross Sharks have put players forward based on the programme’s criteria designed to benefit those most in need.

Clubs have nominated players with low self-esteem, those that could benefit from role modelling, players who wouldn’t otherwise get the chance to experience outdoor adventure and also players who are being rewarded for their efforts during the season.

The overnight residential which focussing on team and confidence building will include archery, assault courses, a giant swing activity, body zorbs, night walks and camp fire activities led by staff from Herd Farm and the Leeds Rhinos Foundation including Community Club Ambassador for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Sam Horner.

“Huge thanks to Geoff and Gill Caplan for their continued support in funding our Score to Explore outdoor adventure which will provide another 36 children this year with two days of activity,” said Horner.

“The outdoor adventure opportunity brings together players from different community clubs, taking them out of their comfort zone at times but each year the players come away with more confidence, team work skills and some lasting friendships.”
