Garforth Tigers have successfully launched their brand new under 7s team with help from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and will be taking part in their first fixture on at the end of March.
The new junior team have been training together over the past couple of months and will have their first game at the end of March, as the Tiger's newest age group take the first steps in their junior rugby league careers.
The club is continuing to grow it's junior player base and still looking to recruit players to add to the new squad. Any children (boys and girls) in years 1 or 2 at school are encouraged to come along and give rugby league a try.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation Community Clubs Development Officer Sam Horner was present at last week's training session and will help continue to help the club in their development needs going forward, with the club also running an under 12's junior side as well as an open age side.
A spokesperson from the Tigers said:
"We've not only had the fantastic kids who's boundless energy and enthusiasm has infected the whole of training. But with some older lads from within the club; Tom Ambler and Luke Reeder coming forward to help the kids get off to a start and Andy Jones a parent from the age group moving in to a coaching role.
"There's plenty to learn both for the kids and the coaching staff but with the help of Sam Horner they are on the right path and hopefully we're creating a future Rhinos club legend!"
Training sessions are now due to be switching to outdoors from Tuesday 31st March from 6 – 7pm at Glebelands on Ninelands Lane. (LS25 1NT)
