Prospective Rugby League players wanting to combine their sport with a chance to study at Leeds City College, can still enrol on courses starting this academic year (Monday 14th Sept) playing under new Leeds City College Rugby Academy Head Coach Russell Parker.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation Development Officer, Russell Parker, who has recently been appointed the Head Coach of Leeds City College's rugby academy, will be attending an open day event at the Horsforth Campus from 9:30-12pm on the 9th Sept to highlight the opportunity to play for, and study at, Leeds City College.
Leeds City College, which is a long term key partner of the Rhinos Foundation, offer a range of sports courses from level one to level three, covering areas such as Sport Services, Sports Coaching, Sport Performance & Excellence and Sport and Exercise Science. Along with the qualification, the students get the chance to train at the Leeds Rhinos training academy using the same facilities used by the Rhinos first team such as the gym, combat room and 3G pitches and provided with programmes to develop themselves physically alongside honing their rugby skill set from academy Rugby and conditioning coaches.
The success of the pathway created between Leeds City College and Leeds Rhinos has been highlighted through recent success stories such as Ben Frankland, who progressed from the Leeds City College Academy to sign a contract with the Rhinos along with 10 other academy players currently completing their qualification at the college while playing for Leeds City College in the Yorkshire Colleges League.
