The RFL Champion Schools Tournament got underway with the start of the new school year for school teams in year 7-11 hoping to progress through the Leeds area qualifiers, enter the regional rounds of knockout competition and move one step closer to be crowned national champions in September 2017.
Leeds Rhinos Foundation for another year followed up a series of coaching sessions with schools in the four corners of the city supporting school staff and preparing teams for the tournament by organising the local qualifiers staged at representative schools from Leeds.
This week saw the Boys year 10 and 11 Leeds finals take place with winners also put through from the girls year 10 and 11 and year 9 girls.
Here is a breakdown of how the schools finished in their respective finals:
Tuesday 4th October @ Shawcross Sharks Year 11:
1st- Corpus Christi Catholic College (Qualified)
2nd- Bruntcliffe Academy (Qualified)
3rd- Brigshaw School
4th- South Leeds Academy
Thursday 6th October @ Shawcross Sharks Year 10:
(Qualifiers)
1st- Corpus Christi Catholic College
2nd- Brigshaw School
3rd- Cardinal Heenan
4th- Woodkirk Academy
Year 11: Qualifiers are Corpus Christi Catholic College and Brigshaw School
Year 10: Qualifiers are Temple Moor and Cockburn School

1st- Corpus Christi Catholic College (Qualified)
2nd- Cockburn School
3rd- Allerton High
4th- Leeds West Academy
Pool 2:
1st- Farnley Academy (Qualified)
2nd- DYCA and Temple Moor
3rd- South Leeds Academy
Next week the Girls year 8 teams will face off for their place in the Yorkshire Regional rounds along with more action in the boys qualifiers including the year 8 and 9 finals.
