Burrow looking forward to working with community coaches this Wednesday

Leeds Rhinos star Rob Burrow is looking forward to passing on some of his coaching knowledge to community club coaches on the 11th January as he leads the latest Coach Education workshop on coaching back plays and kicking.

The workshop is the second instalment of the Coach Education schedule for the 2017 season following on from the success of the launch night in December, which saw Burrow’s team mate Adam Cuthbertson deliver a workshop with the Leeds Rhinos Scholarship team to over 40 coaches from the community.

Burrow, who will be entering his 16th season with the Rhinos in 2017, has won every major honour with the club as part of the 'Golden Generation' and is experienced in coaching youth rugby as part of the club's coaching staff alongside team mate Carl Ablett, where both players have worked with the Rhinos scholarship side.

The Pontefract-born half back, who came through the ranks at Featherstone Juniors, has retained his links with the community game by working closely with the Leeds Rhinos Foundation throughout his career on a number of projects and is looking forward to working with community club coaches on the night.

“It’s always good to give back to the community game and especially on projects like Coach Education that I know Brian McDermott and Barry Eaton put a lot of time and effort into each year,” said Burrow.

Now in it's 6th year, Coach Education, which is organised by Leeds Rhinos Foundation as part of the charity's Rugby League Development plan sponsored by MEARS, provides community coaches with current and professional coaching information, techniques and opportunities to share best practice and caters for coaches working with all age groups and abilities, from juniors, open age, right through to the elite level.

“The Rugby League Development Plan that the Foundation deliver has helped improve standards in the game across Leeds, with more young children playing than ever, but this programme also has a significant role to play in the education of the coaches who are bringing the next generation of players along,” added Burrow.

The workshop is free of charge and available to community rugby league coaches and will involve example drills and observation with the Rhinos scholarship squad.

The session starts at 7.00pm and finishes with Q&A at 8.30pm. To book a place email LRCABooking@leedsrhinosfoundation.org
