BBC to stream Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final

BBC Sport will complete another hat-trick of Challenge Cup Finals on Sunday week (August 20) when the Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final between Leeds Rhinos and Catalans Dragons is shown live on iPlayer (KO 1pm) – and also the BBC Sport website and app, meaning it will be accessible in France and well beyond.

The repeat of the 2022 Final, which the Rhinos won 48-34 to complete a hat-trick of Cup wins, will follow this Saturday’s historic double header of Women’s and Men’s Finals at Wembley Stadium – which will be live on BBC2 and BBC1 respectively, with the Rhinos also involved in the first ever Women’s Challenge Cup Final at Wembley, where they will face St Helens.

The 2023 Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final will be played at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield – and a limited number of tickets are still available – also including the Challenge Trophy Final kicking off at 10:30am in which Sheffield Eagles will hope to capitalise on home advantage against Gravesend Dynamite.

Catalans Dragons, whose men’s team are currently top of the Betfred Super League table and in pole position to challenge for a first Super League title, retained their French Wheelchair title earlier this year, and are determined to gain revenge for their defeat by Leeds in the 2022 Betfred Wheelchair Challenge Cup Final.

Their star-studded squad, dominated by France internationals and also including England’s Sebastien Bechara, secured their place in the Final by going unbeaten in the Challenge Cup Festival in Hull last month.

But that record was matched by the Rhinos, with the only point either side dropped coming in a brutal 4-4 draw.
