Hundreds of young rugby players enjoyed being part of the match day activity at Headingley Carnegie Stadium last Thursday in the Rhinos’ final game of the season.
Throughout the season over 140 teams from Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Ambassador clubs have been part of the club’s match day experience, playing in the mini games at half time, walking out with the first team players as they walk out on to the pitch, forming the guard of honour for the teams or being flag bearers.
Speaking about this Ambassador Club’s involvement Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Community Clubs Development Officer, Sam Horner, said: “If you have been to a game at Headingley Carnegie this season you will see that community teams play a huge part in the overall experience. It is wonderful to see the smiles on the children’s face as they walk out alongside the likes of Danny McGuire and Rob Burrow. To get the chance to play on the famous turf at Headingley is a memory that will live with these young players for the rest of their lives and it is a privilege to help make that happen.
“I would like to thank all of our Ambassador Clubs for supporting what we do and helping make match day so special. We have been overwhelmed by the number of teams who have joined us this season from Leeds and beyond and it shows the relationship between the Rhinos and community clubs is stronger than ever.”
The Club Ambassador Scheme now has 35 clubs enjoying benefits such as coach education, rugby events, rewards to raise funds, cashback on Rhinos season memberships, player appearances and support with regards growing player base at all age groups.
