Ambassador clubs supporting Run with the Rhinos fundraisers

Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s 38 Ambassador Clubs are getting behind the charity by sponsoring the Run with the Rhinos team who are taking on the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k this Sunday

Run with the Rhinos charity places once again sold out for the race taking place on July 9th with runners of all abilities signed up and fundraising in support of Leeds Rhinos’ official charity.

As an added boost for fundraisers taking part this year, Community Clubs Development Officer Sam Horner and Rugby League Development Plan Manager Leon Crick, who oversee the Club Ambassador Scheme, will be entering clubs who sponsor the charity via the team’s MyDonate page into a draw to win club prizes.

Sam Horner, who chairs the monthly ambassador meetings said:

“Leon and myself will be running the event again in 2017 representing the Foundation with 82 other runners, so it’s going to be another fantastic day seeing all the yellow shirts pounding the streets on Sunday.

“The event is more than just the challenge on the day with fundraising an important part of the event each year so we thought we would incentivise the clubs in the Ambassador Scheme to get behind the team as well.”

Alongside the prize draw, clubs will also guess Sam and Leon’s combined time on the day with the nearest guess winning a further team prize for their club.

“This is my 10th year doing Run with the Rhinos and Leon has done quite a few charity events as well so we will be giving it our best shot, we won’t give much else away about our times though as the clubs can have a go at guessing our combined time,” added Horner.

By being an Ambassador Scheme member clubs receive benefits such as invitations to rugby events and Coach Education workshops, matchday experiences at Leeds Rhinos games, rewards to raise funds, cashback on Rhinos season memberships, player appearances and support with growing their player base at all age groups.

The scheme is at the heart of Leeds Rhinos Foundation's Rugby League Development plan, sponsored by Mears, which aims to improve standards and increase participation and continues to grow, building a strong network of clubs all benefiting from a close relationship with the Foundation.

“We’ve built up a really good relationship with the clubs and it’s great to have their support for this Foundation initiative, we hope that as many people not competing can still support the charity with a donation and help us to continue our good work in the city.”

Clubs entering the competition need to email Sam.Horner@leedsrhinosfoundation.org to be in with a chance of winning a prize.
