Acclaimed artist donates painting of Kevin Sinfield to Leeds Rhinos Foundation

Barry Hudson presents Leeds Rhinos Foundation's partnership manager Dan Busfield with the painting of Kevin Sinfield

Yorkshire born artist, Barry Hudson, has given his support to Leeds Rhinos Foundation by kindly donating his painting of Rhinos legend Kevin Sinfield MBE, to raise funds for the charity at this week’s celebration dinner at Leeds Town Hall.

Born in West Yorkshire, Barry studied at Leeds College of Art.  His career as a graphic designer saw him heading up one of the most distinguished studios in the country and included a period as Managing Director of a London design agency where he personally earned a number of professional awards for creative innovation.

Acclaimed and respected by dealers on both sides of the Atlantic as an artist with serious investment potential, many of his paintings have been published as exclusive limited edition prints and originals can be seen in private and commercial galleries internationally.

The impressionist painting shows Kevin Sinfield with the Challenge Cup trophy after the club’s famous victory over Castleford in 2014.

Speaking about the donation to Leeds Rhinos Foundation, partnership manager Dan Busfield said:

"We are so thankful to Barry for agreeing to take on this project and taking time out of his schedule to complete this wonderful painting of Kevin Sinfield.  Barry is an artist who I have admired for some time and I am delighted with the final painting which captures Kevin perfectly.

"Kevin Sinfield is rightly regarded as a legend of the game and I am sure this painting will be a popular item in our auction.  The work Leeds Rhinos Foundation delivers is only possible because of the kind donations from our supporters and this gift from Barry to for our celebration dinner is greatly received by all involved with our charity.”

Now retired with a second home in Cornwall, Barry developed a keen interest in abstract expressionism which sits comfortably alongside his talent as a figurative draughtsman.

He exhibits in galleries throughout the IL and works on his studios in Yorkshire and St Ives where he is an active participant in this internationally recognised and influential colony of contemporary artists. His work is in the collectables of The Duke of Devonshire, Lord and Lady Aldenham, Lord Melvyn Bragg and numerous other artistic luminaries.
