National law firm Stowe Family Law have pledged their backing for women in sport by supporting the Leeds Rhinos Foundation in their delivery of Rugby League to schools and clubs across the city.
The UK’s largest specialist Family Law Firm have become an Inspire Partner for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation supporting Leeds Rhinos’ official charity through their mantra of ‘changing lives through sport’ with funding going directly towards women’s sport delivery in the city.
As part of the partnership between the two organisations, Stowe Family Law will attend games during the Leeds Rhinos 2016 season as guests of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Founder and Senior Partner at Stowe Family Law, Marilyn Stowe will act as an ambassador for the charity’s work with women and girls in sport.
The Leeds Rhinos Foundation works in schools and clubs across the city providing a vital link between the two that has seen a significant increase in young girls playing the sport of Rugby League long term, taking the journey from an introduction to the sport in their school delivery to playing at club level.
Alongside her 30-year career handling divorce cases and family law proceedings, Marilyn Stowe has been a leading voice in the promotion of women in business and a keen nurturer of female talent with her own law firm comprising of a 70% female workforce.
Business Development Executive at the Leeds Rhinos Foundation Ewan Metcalf commented on the partnership:
“Promoting the girls and women side of the game at grassroots level is huge part of our plan for the city to get more young people playing sport and particularly rugby league where Lois Forsell in particular plays a huge role in this regard as a dedicated, full time Women and Girls Development Officer.
“Lois is a fantastic role model for young girls in the city, not only in the fact that she is an International in the sport, but also through her passionate approach to coaching and supporting the next generation of players, where she has a proven track record of providing that great link between our school delivery and the ambassador clubs we work with.
“Marilyn Stowe’s support for women in business is well known and it’s fantastic to be able to announce this partnership that will see her support extend to sport and the development of young people.”
Marilyn Stowe, who met Lois at the launch of the partnership at Headingley Stadium this week said:
“I’m delighted to be involved in the development of a sport that is traditionally regarded as a man’s game. When I began my career in law, that too was regarded as a male profession and look how it’s changed. I was very impressed to meet Lois and very proud indeed that here in Leeds my firm is helping to support her and her great work alongside the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.”
