One Campaign

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is teaming up with One You Leeds to promote a new nutrition campaign to help tackle the ‘calorie creep’.

On average adults in the UK consume 200 to 300 more calories than they need each day.

The One You Leeds 400-600-600 nutrition campaign provides a simple rule of thumb – eat around 400 calories for breakfast, 600 for lunch and 600 for dinner (plus a few healthy snacks and drinks).

Leeds Rhinos Foundation has invited the One You Leeds team to Emerald Headingley for the Super League game between Leeds Rhinos and Wigan on Friday 13 April, where they will be on hand to provide information on healthy nutrition.

Supporters will also be able to pick up a copy of a free recipe book including 18 meal ideas from the One You Leeds, the Rhinos and Jamie Oliver's Ministry of Food.

Laura Buckle, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s health improvement officer said: “Our charity is committed to helping people live more healthy lives and through such work as our men’s health programme ‘Try Club’, which we run in partnership with Public Health Leeds, we have engaged with hundreds of local men to educate them on good nutrition.

“We know it is not always easy to make the right choices when it comes to our health and this is why the One You Leeds service is so important as it there to support people in making positive health choices. I think this new campaign is a great way of getting across the simple message of what our calorie intake should be.”

“We want to help people make healthier choices,” said Sally-Ann O’Connor from One You Leeds.

“Our free recipe booklet is a great place to start. You’ll find lots of ideas for achieving the 400-600-600 rule of thumb and improving your health.”
