Leeds Rhinos Assistant Coach Chris Plume has pledged his support for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Run with the Rhinos campaign this year by taking on the PlusNet Leeds Half Marathon on 8th May and the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k on 10th July.
Chris, who also coaches the Leeds Rhinos Under 19s squad will be running the PlusNet Half Marathon for the first time this year, raising money for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, where his career at the Leeds Rhinos started in 2007.
The former player arrived at Leeds Rugby originally as part of the Rhinos Community team before being promoted in 2008 to a coaching role with the Academy and the first team and has followed the growth of the Foundation ever since:
“It’s great to be able to give something back to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation,” said Plume.
“It’s where it all started for me at the club. The Foundation has grown a lot since my time there and now works with thousands of children across the city every year developing grass roots rugby league and enriching lives in the community.”
The Asda Foundation Leeds 10k taking place two months later on 10th July, will be more familiar territory for Chris, who completed the course in 52 minutes and 26 seconds last year as part of the Run with the Rhinos team.
“Last year it was really inspirational running amongst the thousands of people, all doing their bit for charity, with hundreds of yellow Run with the Rhinos T-shirts amongst the crowds as well.
“I’m really looking forward to setting a new personal best in the Leeds 10k and it will be good to give the Half Marathon a go as well this year. Hopefully the Foundation can get even more runners taking part this year and raise even more money.”
Entry for the race is £30 and there are plenty of incentives to fundraise for the charity with invitations to social events and a Rhinos style fitness session on offer.
