Leeds Rhinos Foundation is excited to announce Colin MacLachlan, star of Channel 4 TV series SAS: Who Dares Wins, will be joining the Run with the Rhinos Team for the Leeds 10k on 10th July.
MacLachlan, who spent 16 years in the Armed Forces and stared in the first series of ‘SAS Who Dares Wins’, will join Leeds Rhinos legends Kevin Sinfield MBE and Barrie McDermott in this year’s Run with the Rhinos team for the Leeds 10k to raise money for Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal.
MacLachlan joined the Royal Scots when he was 15. He spent 10 years in the Regiment and then a further 12 years as a member of the SAS. He is a trained hostage negotiator and now works as a security consultant and emergency planner. He was one of the elite team of special forces veterans on the Channel 4 TV series ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’. At present MacLachlan is using his past leadership experiences and grit with the military to inspire and motivate at business events and this year he will release his action-packed autobiography, The Pilgrim, which is an exploration of what it means to be a modern soldier and to work in the SAS.
Since his successful and various career in the Armed Forces, Maclachlan has supported numerous charities and good causes in particular Pilgrim’s Charity and this year he will put on his running shoes to support Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal.
Speaking about joining the Run with the Rhinos team MacLachlan said: “I’m looking forward to taking on the challenge of the Leeds 10k with the Run with the Rhinos team and helping fundraise for a charity in the heart of Leeds.
“I’m a real advocate for giving back to services and communities and the opportunity to be part of this great occasion for two worth charities was too good to pass up.”
Jessica Bowman, Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s events and fundraising officer, thanked MacLachlan for pledging his support to Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
“We are delighted Colin has agreed to join our team and give his back to our charity,” said Bowman. “Whilst on ‘SAS: Who Dares Wins’ Colin recreated the intensity of life in the SAS for contestants, who battled through a mocked-up recruitment process to see if they had what it took to make the grade and we are hoping his presence at the run will help inspire and encourage all the runners as they take on the challenge of the Leeds 10k.”
