The Leeds Rhinos Foundation are signing up staff in numbers for this year’s Run/Walk with the Rhinos for the Asda Foundation Leeds 10K event on July 12th to help raise money for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff are the latest group to sign up for the race this year, following on from a good numbers in 2014 where over 80 runners donned the yellow Run/Walk with the Rhinos t-shirts.

One of Leeds’ biggest and most popular fundraising events in the Yorkshire calendar, the Asda Foundation Leeds 10k, will this year again provide a memorable day for people raising money for their most important charities, as well as providing a chance to overcome a personal goal or complete the 6.2 mile course with friends and family and enjoy the fantastic race day atmosphere.

Heading up the Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff is Director of Operations, Bob Bowman who has urged as many staff as possible to get involved in the event this year to raise as much money as possible:

“We take a lot of pride in being able to have a big presence on the day with our runners and walkers who are running on behalf of our charity,” said Bowman.

“It is also pleasing to having many of our staff who work in the community in our schools and clubs present at the event and helping to raise money.

“We have set ourselves an ambitious target of getting 200 runners to run on our behalf and so far the staff numbers within the Leeds Rhinos Foundation who have signed up has been encouraging. We have staff from all areas within the Leeds Rhinos Foundation including schools officers, managers, media staff, admin staff and volunteers all taking on the challenge this year and all collectively pulling money in for both the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Jane’s Appeal through sponsorship.”

The Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Director of Operations, who is a long term member of the Run/Walk with the Rhinos team having ran with the charity he oversees since 2010, commented on the appeal of the event:

“The race alone is enough encouragement for me to get involved and take part again this year,” added Bowman.

“The Leeds 10k in particular has a fantastic atmosphere and the crowds around the race really get behind the runners, but knowing and the level to which all sponsorship money raised can impact on the community through our own work and the work of Jane’s Appeal, it is really a great event to get involved in.”

Staff from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation will be joining some Leeds Rhinos legends such as Barrie McDermott and this year's Run/Walk with the Rhinos  race ambassador Jamie Peacock MBE, who have both signed up to run and walk the Leeds 10k route with Leeds Rhinos Foundation Vice President, Matthew Lewis, also joining the team again this year.
