Leeds Rhinos Foundation is supporting local charity, Charity Soul, for their Northern Soul Spectacular event at Headingley Carnegie Stadium this Sunday 1st May, 4pm-Midnight.
A year on since its first event at the stadium, the Northern Soul Spectacular has now become one of the most popular events for Northern Soul fans, with the famous sports stadium transformed into a music venue across four rooms.
Along with a growing reputation for providing and authentic and entertaining Northern Soul experience, the event is also continuing to raise money for Charity Soul, a charity set up with the aim of raising 1 million pounds for front line Cancer research.
Starting at 4pm until midnight there will be a main room playing general 60s Northern soul Music, a modern soul room, a Dekkas Roots room where 60s RnB, mod, rare soul will be played and a Motown room. There will also be live music from the popular soul singer ‘Johnny Boy’.
Charity Soul was set up in 2013 by Northern Soul lover, Terry Hopkinson following the death of a close friend from Cancer. Following Terry’s initial call to the Northern Soul community to support Charity Soul events, the movement has grown and inspired DJ’s across the country to hold their own fundraising nights.
From the beginning one the key aims of Charity Soul has been to directly support those researching a cure for Cancer and with this in mind they made the decision that all the profits they raised would go to acclaimed researcher, Professor Norman Maitland and his team at York University.
