Seven successful kicks from Leeds Rhinos and England Centre Kallum Watkins provided seven community club players playing at Half time in Leeds Rhinos’ Easter Monday win against against Widnes Vikings with a pair of free rugby boots thanks to the ‘Kicks for Boots’ initiative sponsored by Cover Structure Ltd.
The initiative supported by Key Partner Cover Structure Ltd rewarded over 30 community players from Leeds with a pair of X-Blades boots last season and starting with the seven successful goals from the boot of Kallum Watkins on Monday will support more players through the 2017 season.
The goals scored at Headingley Carnegie Stadium will be awarded to selected players who featured in the half time community activity as half time teams, an initiative which saw over 1200 players take to the field in 2016.
Kallum Watkins whose 100% record with the boot at the Widnes game commented on the initiative said:
"It's a great idea from the Foundation and Cover Structure to provide some young players with a free boots, I know when I was growing up and playing the game it was a special feeling to play at half time at a Super League ground but to get an extra boost by winning a pair of boots is a great way to inspire young players.
"Hopefully with the good start we've made to the season myself and other kickers in the team can provide as many boots as possible for the rest of the season."
