First Ambassador Festival taking place this weekend

the festival now in its 7th year will see over 1000 young rugby players take part in small sided rugby fixtures as one of the highlights of the community club season.

Rugby League stars of the future will be joining Leeds Rhinos Foundation for the first of two Ambassador Festivals this Sunday hosted by community clubs Hunslet Warriors and Hunslet Club Parkside

For the first time in 2017, the festival has been spilt into two separate events with a festival for the under 10s to 14s this Sunday and a second festival for under 7s to 9s taking place at Leeds Rugby Academy in Kirkstall a week later on the 20th August.

With all 38 of the ambassador clubs involved in the two events, the festival which is now in its 7th year will see over 1000 young rugby players take part in small sided rugby fixtures as one of the highlights of the community club season.

Under 10, 11 and 12 boys will also be joined for the first time by under 12 and 14 girls this Sunday as the festival expands in 2017 to incorporate the seven clubs now operating with girls only sections.

Supporting the event this year at the Hunslet festival site will be family run catering specialists Naturally Best Caterers. The mobile event caterers will also be providing food at the event expected to see over 1000 people.

Organised by Community Clubs Development Officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Sam Horner, the festival brings together all ambassador clubs in the city for the event, which is organised by the clubs at ambassador scheme meetings throughout the year.

The festival is also supported by the Leeds Rhinos players, who attend the event each year to present certificates to players and interact with event hosts on the main stage from Rugby AM.

This weekend's Festival runs from 10am to 4pm and is free for all spectators to attend. There will be a raffle on the day with rugby merchandise and equipment available to purchase from on-site retailers.
