Leeds Rhinos Foundation ran a Corporate Netball Tournament in partnership with England Netball last week for businesses and organisations based at Wellington Place in Leeds City Centre
The tournament was the first run by the Leeds Rhinos Foundation with all proceeds from the event, from entry fees, going back to the charity to assist in helping to change lives through sport.
Wellington Place based organisations Shulmans, Sky Betting and Gaming, PricewaterhouseCoopers and Squire Patton Boggs took part in the tournament supported by England Netball, who provided a portable netball court for the event.
The new court which was rolled out over 20 times across the city throughout August, with the aim of getting more people to participate in Netball, will now be stored locally to provide more opportunities to play the sport across Leeds.
As a vibrant business quarter in the heart of Leeds, Wellington Place offers a range of amenities for it's customers which creates a genuine sense of community where people can meet and have access to services that enhance their working day.
Event organiser from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Kate Lightfoot was pleased to further the amount of leisure opportunities going on at Inspire Partner Wellington Place:
“It’s great to work with Wellington Place who’re really keen to ensure that the businesses that work on site have access to a wide range of clubs, groups and classes which already includes a choir, Five-A-Side football and a Sewing Club.
"Wellington Place employee’s fitness and wellbeing is treated as top priority, and it was therefore great to be able to offer something a bit different in terms of a netball tournament, thanks to the support from England Netball.
"We’re keen to do more events like this in the future, so watch this space."
The final consisted of Shulmans and Sky Betting and Gaming, with Shulmans coming out victorious with a 6-2 win to cap off the tournament.
Ashley O'Carroll from PWC commented on the event:
"Thank you to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation for organising the tournament, we all thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, please let us know if you do anything like this again, as we'll definitely be interested."
