The Leeds Rhinos Foundation’s Friends of the Foundation scheme in partnership with Irwin Mitchell Solicitors has now reached 28 organisations supporting Leeds Rhinos’ official charity and will now be enhanced by the appointment of new Business Development Executive Ewan Metcalf, who will oversee the scheme going forward.
The ‘Friends of the Foundation’ Scheme, launched in February 2015 with partners Irwin Mitchell Solicitors was devised with the vision to bring together businesses and organisations across the city of Leeds and the wider region to create a business network that shares a common interest in supporting the Leeds community through funding the Leeds Rhinos Foundation.
Just eight months after the launch of the initiative, 28 organisations and businesses have pledged their support to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation with a donation of £500 to contribute to a number of projects in education, sport, heritage and health under the charity’s philosophy of ‘changing lives through sport.’
As part of the scheme, businesses can not only fulfil some of their corporate social responsibility but are able to profit from a series of benefits included in the package of being a Friend of the Foundation.
Some of the benefits include being entered into a draw over the course of the season to become a community match day partner, including a VIP match day hospitality package and coverage in the match day programme.
Aside from match days, Friends of the Foundation are invited to networking events at Headingley Carnegie Stadium, see their logos and links to company websites displayed on the Leeds Rhinos Foundation website, receive a certificate of membership into the scheme and can benefit from being part of fundraising opportunities throughout the year.
General Manager for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, Davide Longo, commented on the growth of the Friends of the Foundation scheme since its launch:
“We are delighted to now have over 25 businesses and organisations buying into to this concept with a yearly donation. The range of businesses who have supported us so far shows just how far the brand of Leeds Rhinos, but more importantly the Leeds Rhinos Foundation has come and we are indebted to all of our friends for their support.
“Because of the growth of the scheme over 2015, we are now pleased to be able to bring our new Business Development Executive Ewan Metcalf into the Foundation to oversee the scheme and support the Foundation in developing more positive relationships with local organisations going forward.”
Ewan Metcalf commented on his new role:
