Happy 1st Birthday to the TryZone Work Club

The work club at TryZone's fully equipped purpose built learning centre at Headingley Carnegie Stadium

The TryZone Work Club ran by Leeds Rhinos Foundation and co funded by Lloyds TSB, has completed its first year in operation.

Opening its doors to jobseekers in the Headingley area on the 29th January 2014, since that time the work club has welcomed a total of 118 individual job seekers to the purpose built TryZone centre at Headingley Carnegie Stadium.

The individual job seekers have between them accounted for over 500 attendances at the centre to date, with some members attending just once to have their CVs checked and others attending on a more regular basis to take advantage of the IT provision, help with completing applications, mock interviews and other employment related tasks.

The Work Club is part of the Department of Work and Pensions (DWP) Work Club Network in Leeds and takes referrals from jobcentres across Leeds, but mainly from the Eastgate Jobcentre Plus which supports the Headingley area.

Jaci Hawkins, who runs the Work Club, with support from other Foundation staff members, commented that:

“The success of the Work Club is due to the relaxed and supportive atmosphere at the TryZone Centre, a good working relationship with the staff at Eastgate Jobcentre Plus and the continued support of Leeds Rhinos Rugby League Club.”

The Work Club has had a significant number of successes where members have taken up employment in a range of industry sectors, with others receiving assistance into further training and development opportunities.

The club takes place every Wednesday 1.00pm – 3.30pm, if you would like to attend the Work Club or would like further information about the service please contact Jaci Hawkins at jaci.hawkins@leedsrugbyfoundation.org or tel. 07817018603 / 01132033226.
