Further & Higher Education Development Officer Russell Parker’s Leeds City College team made it three wins out of three with a hard fought 38-18 win in their local derby against Leeds College of Building, moving the team up to 4th in the Yorkshire Division 1 table

Leeds City College came into the game looking to build on their first two wins of the season against Wilberforce College and St Mary's, which had kick started their campaign after not picking up any points in the first two league fixtures.

With local pride at stake, the Leeds Colleges derby match was a hard fought affair, including a number of outstanding scoring efforts throughout the tie. Dominic Scott, Thomas Hutchinson and Jack Carroll scored first half tries for Leeds City College to take a narrow lead going into the interval with the scores at 14-12.

After a tight first half, the deciding factor in the game proved to be some more flare from the LCC team and the backs division proving to be the difference, including some spectacular solo efforts from Luke Brown, Joshua Johnstone and Jermaine Ruan to help LCC pull away in the second half.

With the tie seemingly settled, pacey wingman Thomas Hutchinson then grabbed his second and third tries of the game, the latter coming from a 50 metre dash to line after gathering the ball from an inventive kick, leaving the scores 38-18.

Leeds City College Head Coach Russell Parker said:

"It is great to see two Colleges in the City producing good Rugby League programmes for students, evident by the talent on show today."

Leeds City College's next opponents will be Huddersfield New College on the 25th November as they look to continue their winning run.
