Leeds Rhinos Foundation aiming to help more people get active in 2018

In 2018 Leeds Rhinos Foundation will aim to engage with more people than ever before as they continue to work with other Leeds sports organisations to help make Leeds the most active city in England.

As part of a collaborative approach through the Sport Leeds network, which brings together the City's sports organisations to promote the benefits of active lifestyles to the people of Leeds, Leeds Rhinos Foundation will continue to work in schools and community clubs to offer children more opportunities to play sport whilst also extending the provision they offer adults through initiatives such as their Tuesday Touch Rugby league, Try Club, Leeds Rhinos Physical Disability side and Rhinos Active Social for people aged over 55.

In 2017, five Leeds Rhinos Foundation staff qualified as Hi 5 Netball coaches and the charity was awarded a license to deliver in-school support for schools delivering Real PE in Leeds, they also announced new partnerships with Active Schools, Northern Ballet and Leeds Rhinos netball to further enhanced the opportunities the charity is able to offer young people in schools.

Through the Rugby League Development Plan, sponsored by Mears and the Sky Try programme, which involve the charity’s staff coaching in schools and clubs, Leeds Rhinos Foundation are well positioned to encourage children to get active and lead healthy lifestyles.

Looking ahead to 2018, Bob Bowman, chief operating officer for Leeds Rhinos Foundation, said: “We are looking forward to an exciting year ahead for our charity.  Leeds is a city with a proud sporting heritage and we are proud of the work our charity do to inspire the next generation to get involved in sport.  We are proud to be part of the Sport Leeds network and to work alongside the city’s other sports organisations to create an environment in Leeds where active recreation is enjoyed by as many people as possible.”.
