The Leeds Rhinos coach education program with Brian McDermott will return for the second session of 2015 on Monday 20th April with another interactive Q&A and example coaching workshop at Kirkstall training ground and places can be booked today!
The workshop theme for the second session will be video analysis on game strategies. Coaches are invited to a classroom session with Brian where there will be opportunities to ask questions as the Leeds Rhinos coach gives explanation of game scenarios.
The all year round coach education programme provides community coaches with current and professional coaching information and techniques as well as, an opportunity to share best practice.
The first session on the 23rd February in front of an audience of 50 coaches from across the region, was a tailored introductory session based on Brian McDermott's emphasis on muscle memory, enjoyment and creating the right coaching environment, involving the familiar format of a classroom talk followed by a pitch demonstration with the invited amateur club Oulton Raiders Under 16’s.
The workshops cater for coaches working with a range of groups and abilities, from junior coach's right through to scholarship level. A full calendar of the coaching workshops will be out soon detailing the programme throughout 2015 and covering different areas of Brian McDermott’s coaching philosophy.
The sessions based at the Leeds Rugby Academy are aimed at those coaching teams aged 12 and above allowing attendees to watch and pick up tips from the Grand Final and Challenge Cup winning through the interactive format.
Other workshops planned in 2015 are aimed at specific groups from coaches coaching Minis to under 11s.
The programme will also be out on the road with the Leeds Rhinos Academy team with dates to be announced soon.
The second session which is available to book up the 20th April starts at 6:45pm-8:15pm at Leeds Rugby Academy Clarence Fields Bridge Road Kirkstall Leeds LS5 3BW.
