Feature Community Club of the Week: Shaw Cross

Leeds Rhinos Foundation is this year featuring a Community Club of the week following the weekend’s home fixtures and this week’s club in the spotlight is Shaw Cross.

Shaw Cross club for young people is one of the oldest, if not the oldest amateur clubs in the country, established in 1947 – one team using a recycled war shelter as a club house, to the present day and lottery funded clubhouse boasting teams from Under-7s through to open age, with two girls teams and tots training for 4 and 5 year olds.

Quite literally thousands of young individuals have passed through the club over the many years with an impressive list that have reached top flight professional honours.

This season alone the club is proud to have passed another eight coaches through their Level 2 grading, which is helping to push the junior game in the right direction and deliver the many training sessions throughout the week in a fun environment which increases the kids development no end.

Shaw Cross Sharks have been an ambassador club to the Leeds Rhinos Foundation over two seasons now and would like to thank them for their continued support.
