The Leeds Rhinos Foundation are offering an exciting opportunity for a motivated individual to join our team as an Apprentice Coach / Community Activator, helping to inspire the next generation and grow Rugby League across Leeds and beyond.
As part of our Rugby League Development Plan and wider 2024–2030 Ambition Plan, you will play a hands-on role in delivering fun, engaging, and inclusive sport sessions in schools and community settings, all while gaining nationally recognised qualifications and valuable experience within one of the UK’s leading sports foundations.

Training and Development
Depending on your current experience and qualifications, you will complete one of the following nationally recognised programmes:
- Level 2 Community Activator Coach – ideal for those starting their coaching journey
- Level 3 Community Sport and Health Officer – for those with some experience looking to advance
- Level 4 Sports Coach – for those ready to take on greater responsibility and develop advanced coaching skills
If you are not yet ready for the higher levels, there is a clear development pathway in place to support your ongoing growth and progression within the Foundation and through Activfirst.

Key Responsibilities
- Rugby League and generic sport/skills coaching in primary schools
- Rugby League Coaching in high schools
- Rugby League Taster / Recruitment sessions in club settings
- Assist with the running of school competitions and festivals
- Coaching and assistance with North V South Player Development Series programme
- Growing and retaining participation in Rugby League
Skills / Development Areas:
- You will hold or have the desire to work towards a Level 2 Coaching Qualification in Rugby League
- Have an interest in supporting communities to be active with an understanding of the benefits of sport.
- Organising events and Competitions with colleagues
- Working with colleagues to develop your communication skills
- Ability to monitor own workload and evaluate on our internal system
- Good IT skills.
- Excellent time management skills
- Ability to work as part of a team and individually
Additional Responsibilities
- To carry out additional work for the Leeds Rhinos Foundation as requested by line manager
- Attendance at all core Leeds Rhinos Foundation events including Leeds Rhinos match days
- Attendance at Leeds Rhinos Foundation camps and summer activities outside of term times as required by line manage
- Driving License is desirable
- Salary is based on age related living wage – Full Time 40 hours
