Responsible to: Leeds Well Schools Partnership Director / Head Teacher Rufford Park
Hours: There is some flexibility regarding the contracted hours for this role, which can be discussed with candidates during the interview process. The position will be either four or five days per week, equating to 29.6 or 37 hours weekly.
The SGO and LWSP role will be contracted for 52 weeks of the year.

Contract: 1 Year contracted to Rufford Park Primary School and Leeds Rhinos Foundation, September 2025 to August 2026
Purpose: The fundamental aim of the Leeds Well School Partnership (LWSP) is to put wellbeing at the heart of education through Physical Activity, PE and Sport. The successful candidate will also be responsible for delivering the School Games Programme to schools in North West Leeds as well as supporting the delivery of the LWSP offer in this area.
Task or Responsibility
For this role, there is an expectation that all, or a combination, of the following will be undertaken:
School Games Organiser (SGO):
As a School Games Organiser, your role is instrumental in championing the vision and mission of the School Games program to make a positive and meaningful difference in the lives of children and young people through sports and physical activity. You will be responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing the School Games in your designated area. Your focus will be on addressing national priorities, such as tackling inequalities, promoting youth engagement, and enhancing physical literacy through the School Games.
Responsibilities:
- Development Plan: Create and maintain a comprehensive development plan for the academic year, outlining strategies to engage young people and schools in the School Games. Update the plan each term based on local insights and needs.
- Community Connections: Foster community connections to ensure ongoing participation in sports and physical activities beyond the School Games, providing young people with lasting opportunities to engage in physical activity.
- Termly Offer: Utilise the events calendar to upload a termly offer of events and activities that align with the School Games’ vision and mission. Ensure each activity has a clear intent to benefit the young participants.
- Targeted Engagement: Work with local insights and youth engagement to identify young people and schools from underserved communities that would benefit most from targeted School Games initiatives.
- Impact Case Studies: Develop case studies to showcase the positive impact of the School Games on local priorities. Share these success stories locally and nationally through effective storytelling.
- Collaboration: Collaborate with key partners, including schools, National Governing Bodies of sport, Active Partnerships, community groups, and parents, to ensure inclusivity, safety, and meaningful engagement.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Engage key stakeholders to advocate for the value and benefits of the School Games, fostering support from local leadership teams, Public Health representatives, and parents.
- Youth Engagement: Prioritise resources to implement youth engagement initiatives, giving young people a voice and choice in shaping School Games opportunities.
- School Engagement: Work closely with schools to maintain and increase their active participation in the School Games. Identify schools that are not engaged and develop strategies to improve their involvement.
- Professional Development: Provide schools with professional development opportunities and communication to enhance their understanding and implementation of the Chief Medical Officer’s recommended 60 active minutes.
Requirements:
- A passion for promoting physical activity and sports among young people.
- Proven experience in event planning, community engagement, or youth development.
- Strong organizational and project management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
- Understanding of local educational settings and youth demographics.
- Familiarity with relevant tools such as School Games Mark and Inclusive Health Check is desirable.

The Leeds Well School Partnership North West Leeds Area Lead is responsible for coordinating and supporting the implementation of the Leeds Well School Partnership’s strategy within a designated locality. They act as the key link between schools, local partners, and the central partnership team, ensuring that wellbeing initiatives are effectively delivered, adapted to local needs, and aligned with the partnership’s overall goals.
Area Lead Responsibilities:
Local Strategy Delivery
- Act as the first point of contact for schools within the designated area.
- Coordinate and deliver the local offer calendar, ensuring regular support and engagement with all schools.
- Build relationships with local providers (e.g. secondary schools, sports centres) to access facilities and recruit young leaders for events.
- Lead planning and delivery of local competitions, events, and wellbeing initiatives.
Operational Oversight
- Lead the coordination of venue bookings and ensure all local risk assessments are in place.
- Oversee and monitor the local area budget.
- Track school engagement across the area and follow up with targeted actions where needed.
- Contribute to termly reporting, sharing insights and outcomes with the central LWSP team.
- Develop and nurture relationships with local area partners to strengthen the delivery and reach of the LWSP offer.
Additional Duties:
- Contribute to special projects as required to support the broader goals of the LWSP.
- Support the overall success of the team through collaboration across strategic areas, including:
- Development of website content (SRM Programme).
- Supporting the Competitions and Events Programme.
- Supporting the Professional Development Programme and the development of national and local partnerships.
Generic Duties:

- Attend relevant meetings, events, and professional development opportunities, including LWSP, LRF (Leeds Rhinos Foundation), and partner events.
- Maintain up-to-date calendar entries and ensure Outlook calendar is regularly updated.
- Keep monitoring, evaluation, and data collection tools up to date.
- Support wider Leeds Rhinos Foundation areas of work where appropriate.

Travel:
- This role will require travel to events, meetings, etc, both within the Leeds area and possibly regional.
