Leeds Rhinos Crowned 2025 PDRL Champions

The Leeds Rhinos Physical Disability Rugby League team were crowned 2025 PDRL Champions last weekend after an outstanding day of rugby saw them defeat Warrington Wolves 22-0 in the Semi-Final and overcome Wakefield Trinity 12-4 in a hard-fought Grand Final.

In their opening match, the Rhinos demonstrated exactly why they had finished the regular season as league leaders. A confident and clinical performance against Warrington delivered several long-range tries and set the tone for the day. Bryce Crane opened the scoring, using his footwork to slice through the line before racing for the first try. Chris Young followed shortly after, spotting a gap from a quick play-the-ball and sprinting 50 metres to extend the lead. Crane then added his second with a burst down the wing and a smart cut back inside, while Young claimed his own brace with a superb dummy and nimble footwork from 15 metres out. Equally impressive was Leeds’ defensive determination, keeping Warrington scoreless to secure a 22-0 victory.

The Grand Final against Wakefield Trinity demanded a grittier, more resilient display. Leeds delivered two crucial tries, the first coming from a perfectly timed lead line by Crane, who powered 40 metres to score. The second saw Rhinos Captain Tommy Pouncey crash over from close range. Wakefield applied heavy pressure in the final five minutes, battering the Leeds line, but the Rhinos’ defensive resolve held firm to secure a 12-4 win.

The character shown across both matches reflected a squad built on unity, resilience, and commitment. Every player stood by their teammates throughout the year, leading to a champion finals performance worthy of their efforts.

Leeds Rhinos Foundation would also like to extend a special thank you to Inclusive Sport Partner ENGIE Supply UK, whose support helps make programmes like PDRL possible, providing invaluable opportunities for players who may not otherwise have had the chance to take part in sport.
