COACH

AVAILABLE TO SPONSOR

Roberts, who was appointed as the side’s Player-Coach ahead of the 2019 season, previously played for Drighlington ARLFC and for the last seven years has also coached some of their junior teams.

His dad Paul Roberts played a couple of seasons professionally for Bramley under Maurice Bamford before having to stop playing due to a bad knee injury.

He began playing PDRL after seeing a tweet from Rhinos legend Barrie McDermott about open trials which encouraged him to go along as he hadn’t played for a long time.

An ever-present in the side during the 2018 season, Roberts then asked if he could help with coaching the side following the departure of former Head Coach Chris Godfrey. This was because he was unsure on how long he would have left playing and wanted to stay involved in the team, having been with them from the beginning.

Utilised as a prop or second row forward, Roberts has many rugby memories, including being part of the team that played in the first ever PDRL fixture in February 2018, leading the team out at Emerald Headingley against Warrington in a PDRL exhibition fixture and playing at Anfield during Dacia Magic Weekend.
