WHAT’S NEW IN 2020?

Entering September 2020 the partnership is proud to announce further programme developments to provide even more opportunities and experiences for our student-players:

Women’s Development Academy –

Following the success and popularity of the men’s programme over the last 2 years and with a growing demand for such provision, the programme will offer a female alternative to match the Development Academy model

The Women’s programme will deliver upon the same core values and principles of the Men’s providing our female players with a unique chance to play, train and study simultaneously under the Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds City College banners.

More Courses –

One key aim of the Development Academy is to offer our players as wide a range of courses as possible. With that in mind, we are pleased to announce that in addition to our Sport and Applied Science courses we will be offering 26 different A-Level courses from September.

All courses included in the programme are timetabled around your playing and training requirements – so no student has to ever sacrifice one for the other.

NCS –

NCS is one of the fastest growing youth programmes, engaging 500,000 young people since piloting in 2009. The NCS experience will give young people a clearer idea of what they want from their future, and they will take on fresh challenges, get a taste of independence and be given a platform to have their voices heard and deliver a social action project that will positively impact their local area.

The NCS programme experience will give participants the opportunity to develop the confidence and skills they need to become more engaged with their communities and become active and responsible citizens, whilst having an amazing, action-packed experience.

As part of the NCS opportunity with the Development Academy, we will look to combine the first wave of NCS with our pre-season, combining residential activities with fitness training. This will give our players a unique opportunity to get to bond and collaborate in preparation for the year ahead.

Annual France Tour –

In 2020, we have worked hard to develop strong working relationships with international partners to provide opportunities for our squads to experience international rugby tours.

These experiences are ones that players keep with them throughout their life and is something we can’t wait to offer to more people!
