In its fifth year, Leeds Rhinos Foundation is benefitting from the secondment placement with partners Leeds Building Society.
The opportunity, which can last up to one year with the Foundation, is designed to give people from Leeds Building Society the chance to gain further experience in new environments that will push their career forward.

Oliver Hutchinson is the latest member of staff from Leeds Building Society to take up the placement with Leeds Rhinos Foundation. He currently works in specialist complaints at Leeds Building Society's head office; a post he has held for five years. But at Leeds Rhinos Foundation, his role is charity events support coordinator, where he assists with the coordination of events, such as the grand raffle prize draw, throughout the year.

Elsewhere, Oliver has been regularly involved with the Work Club and ESOL courses, which provide English language lessons for students of English as a foreign language, offering his support and knowledge to attendees. He has also been involved with other health and school projects run by Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

When asked about the placement, Oliver said: "To be selected for this secondment is a great opportunity for me to further my career at Leeds Building Society, but also gives me the chance to help the Leeds Rhinos Foundation as a charity and the projects they run.

"Having graduated from Leeds University in languages, the opportunity to help the ESOL group links with my background and love for languages, so I fit right into that group. It shows that this secondment is beneficial not only professionally, but personally as well."

Dan Busfield, Leeds Rhinos Foundation's head of partnerships and development, said: "To continue the secondment with Leeds Building Society is great for both the Society and Leeds Rhinos Foundation.

"The opportunities that we offer are exclusive to the charity, due to the people we work with and projects we run, and to have Oliver on board will develop him. We've had some great people come from Leeds Building Society as part of the secondment and it has really benefitted them and I hope that this opportunity can be sustainable for us and Leeds Building Society in the future."

Becky Hewitt, Leeds Building Society's Director of People, said: "Our relationship with Leeds Rhinos is long-running and it's great to support the Foundation and incorporate colleague development in such a unique way. The secondment has enabled colleagues to spend time developing skills and acquiring experience in a new environment.

"It's great to see Oliver is enjoying his time at Leeds Rhinos Foundation and hopefully, his experience during this time, will be a significant benefit to him and us in the future."
