Young people and adults with a disability from Leeds will come together for the 17th annual Disability Tag Rugby Festival on the 26th September at John Charles Centre for Sport.
Teams from the Leeds area will be joined by several adult groups invited from across the county to John Charles Centre for Sport for the festival, which provides rugby competition for ambulant children and young people and adults with a learning disability and/or moderate physical disability.

Now in its 17th year, the event organised and staffed by coaches from the Leeds Rhinos Foundation, attracts over 20 teams of mixed age and abilities to take part in the tournament run in partnership with Leeds City Council.

The festival is part of Leeds Rhinos Foundation's commitment to provide sporting opportunities for all abilities and will include service users from many of the specialist inclusive learning centres and special needs organisations across the city.

Disability Coordinator for Leeds Rhinos Foundation Chris Godfrey said:

"The Disability Tag Rugby Festival brings lots of different organisations together with one common goal, to provide an inclusive and enjoyable day out for people of all abilities.

"Tag Rugby is a great way for people of all abilities to enjoy the game of rugby and model after some of their heroes who they will be able to meet on the day, so we hope to see lots more organisations get involved this year."

Leeds Rhinos star and Leeds Mencap Ambassador Danny McGuire said:

"As a player involved with supporting a charity like Leeds Mencap, it's great to see Leeds Rhinos Foundation and Leeds City Council continue to provide opportunities for people with disabilities like the tag festival.

"The event has been going on for as long as I've been at the Rhinos and whenever I've attended it's always been really encouraging to see so many different organisations involved all having a good time and enjoying their rugby."

The Disability Tag Rugby Festival costs £25 to enter and is still open for registration by completing an entry form and cheque payable to:
